Abstract

Bullying is a global issue that threatens children's physical and psychological well-being and affects their quality of life. In rural areas, including SD Negeri 02 Sukorambi, parental awareness and understanding of bullying remain limited, often leading to its normalization as harmless behavior among children. This community service which was health education aimed to improve parents’ knowledge and understanding of bullying, including its types, causes, impacts, and appropriate responses, through a health counseling intervention using a “Stop Bullying” poster. This health education was conducted as a community-based health education intervention involving parents and teachers in a school parenting program. A pre-test and post-test design was used to measure participants’ knowledge before and after the intervention. The counseling session utilized poster media to deliver information. Data from the questionnaires were analyzed descriptively to compare pre-test and post-test results. The findings showed that participants initially had low knowledge levels, with pre-test scores ranging from 20% to 50% across indicators. After the intervention, post-test scores increased significantly to 80%–100%, indicating improved understanding of bullying concepts, types, causes, impacts, and appropriate actions. Health counseling using poster media effectively improved parents’ knowledge about bullying. This intervention has important implications for promoting a safer and more supportive school environment through strengthened collaboration between parents, schools, and the community.
